How ballroom dancing brought me back from cancer

Dance can be transformative in many ways, especially for breast cancer survivors. This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we’d like to celebrate by taking a look at the inspiring stories of women who used dance to recover from breast cancer. Many of them had long, hard journeys, but with a lot of strength and a little bit of fate, they are still standing to tell their stories today. Find out about these women’s stories and how they are celebrating life through dance:

Dancers Fighting Cancer

Rochester’s Jane Parker had just seen the last of her three children graduate college when she received the devastating news that she had breast cancer. Only 49 years old, she would have immediate surgery followed by six weeks of daily radiation and another six months of difficult recovery. Through ballroom dance, she was able to rediscover her confidence and femininity, and now, she is helping other women do the same.
