Dancing Sparks Joy Online as New Year Dawns

Dancing-Viral-Moments

As your social media feeds fill up with new diet plans and fitness advice, Fred Astaire Dance Studios is taking a walk down memory lane with our five favorite viral dancing moments in 2021.

Fred Astaire Dance Studios locations provide ballroom dance lessons to people of all ages and at all stages of their lives. Our certified dance instructors teach participants how to tango, jive, and waltz in private or group settings. For people who are reluctant to visit a dance studio in person, we offer a large Online Lesson Platform where you can choose a lesson from our video library or sign up for a live-streaming dance lesson.

One thing all of the viral dance videos on our list have in common is the participants are having fun. We believe ballroom dancing is a lively and enjoyable social activity. Dancing offers numerous physical health benefits, including helping manage weight, strengthening bones, and improving balance. Dancing is also good for the soul. Giving your body permission to follow the beat can help reduce stress, improve mood, and alleviate anxiety. Studies also show ballroom can help stave off dementia and increase self-confidence.

Here are our five favorite viral dance moments of 2021.

  • Landing a new job is always a thrill. While this victory dance is short and sweet, it is sure to put a smile on your face. Kayallah Jones was caught on camera after she was offered a job at The Spot Sports Bar & Grill in Decatur, Georgia. Her new boss, Dakara Spence, posted the video online, and it quickly received millions of views. The video was so popular the pair were invited to attend “The Ellen Show,” where they each received $15,000 checks from Shutterfly, an online photography provider.

  • A beloved teacher from Fresno, California, recently became a viral sensation for outdancing his students. Austin Lemay is a teacher at Tenaya Middle School, and he makes it a priority to dance with the students every Friday. Dancing with the students helps provide the kids with some much-needed levity and joy.

  • Demi Adejuyigbe continues to impress us this year with his annual “September” dance video. Each year Adejuyibe’s team creates a new video to mark the reference to a popular Earth, Wind & Fire song and raise money for charity. Just five hours after the video was released this year, it had already raised more than $500,000 for a variety of charities. 2021 is bittersweet as it marks the last year Adejuyigbe will release a video.

  • One TikTok user broke the Internet with his version of a dance to the song “Stay,” by Justin Bieber. He filmed himself using a camera attached to a drone. David Allen’s rendition was so popular that he was contacted by celebrities, such as Bella Porch, to film the pair dancing to the song. Here is an interview with Allen.

  • This list wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t include at least one person making their jobs better by dancing. In this video, a drive-thru attendant at Whataburger, a popular burger chain, gets groovy as she serves customers. The employee amuses guests with her moves to “We Are Family,” by Sister Sledge.
